Winter Car Care Tips!

Winter is fast approaching so here are some tips for taking care of your car through the season from Justin Lynman, the service manager at Lexus Rivercenter:

First and foremost, BATTERIES! Always have your battery checked when it starts to get cold. It is a lot harder for a vehicle to start in the cold and with as many electronics modern vehicles have in them, today batteries have their job cut out for themselves! Most batteries have a life of 4 years or so (some earlier, some later).

Second, tires! Many people find out they need tires when they really need a tire (i.e.; flat, blow out, slick roads, etc.). It's a quick check that will save you grief later. If your luck is like mine, you'll get that flat tire in the middle of no where with no cell service and pouring rain!

Third, check your fluid levels! A happy car is one with plenty of fluids.

Last, winter weather will usually beat up on your wiper blades. Make sure you have new blades on before those big storms hit. No one likes a half clean windshield!

  1. One of the things that you should always have for winter is a winter emergency kit for the car. It includes an ice scraper, some de-icing liquid, and tire traction for snow or ice. These things can help you and your car survive during extreme conditions during winter.

  2. Some of us cannot really avoid driving in the snow even though we know that this may not be very good for our cars. So, it is essential that we practice winter car maintenance steps as well as the proper auto detailing Aspen CO to prevent problems like frozen gas lines, windows, windshields and wipers. Thank you for sharing this post. You have some very useful tips in here.

  3. Thank you for sharing those reminders! Indeed, winter can cause some damage on your vehicle. That is why it is important to prepare it before the cold season comes. Aside from checking the batteries and tires, I suggest that you drain the vehicle fluids before storing your vehicle during the winter season. If not, the fluid might freeze and it may cause some damage on your vehicle. [Rita McCall]

  4. Preparation is the key. It’s really devastating once you get stuck in a certain situation without any tools and equipment with you. Before you take to the road, whether it is just a short trip, make sure that you have those important things with you.

This article is pretty short and explaining the major things that we need to know for the better performance of our vehicle during winter. Visit here for more car care tips.
